Gender Representation in Advertising
1) Find three adverts featuring women that are from the 1950s or 1960s. Save the images to your Media folder as jpegs and then import them into your blog post. Hint: You may wish to look at car, perfume or cleaning products but can use any product you wish.

3) What stereotypes of women can you find in the 1950s and 1960s adverts? Give specific examples.
In the 1950s adverts it shows they are doing things for men like the clothing they wear and the way the man grabs the ladys arm in the third photo.
4) What stereotypes of women can you find in the post-2000s adverts? Give specific examples.
In the post 2000s they are shown as strong and powerful . For example in the third picture shes also presented as athletic and active through her body position and movement.
5) How do your chosen adverts suggest representations of gender have changed over the last 60 years?
In the 1950s and 1960s , women were shown as passive and dependent on men , usually cooking or cleaning for them . Women were presented as doing things to please men and were often portrayed as less powerful.
However, in the post 2000s the adverts shows women as more independent and confident . Like in the Miss Dior advert it framed women as more in control of their identity , suggesting they have more freedom and choice then the past.
