Language: The title , tag line billing block (information about the director and the production company) are typical codes and conventions found on poster. The main prop of this poster was the woman sitting down on the chair holding a doll in a dull , eerie room . Also the scratched walls looked like dirty and disturbing.

Audience: This looks like it would be targeted at an adult audience . The reason why it would likely fall into the adult audience because its for the fans who find supernatural , violence , horror entertaining.

Industry: The film was produced by New Line Cinema (New Line Cinema is known for producing horror films as they have produced many other original movies). It was directed by a Malaysian-Australian film maker called James Wan.

Representation: The picture shows a lady holding a doll sitting in a chair in a dark, isolated room this is implying it is a horror genre , this subverts our expectation for scary media whilst learning more into the horror elements of the film
