Denotations and Connotations.
Denotation: In the advert the company name "WaterAid" it also shows a young boy who looks like he's having a hard time . it also says dig toilets not graves.
Connotation: This suggests its helping people that are struggling and need water , and the heading in the advert suggests people don't have access to toilets and its hard for them this suggests its sad, hard etc. its also bad for them as they might not have access to warm showers.
Analysis: This helps the audience understand that young children and adults in the world don't have access to things like others do and understanding their struggles. In addition the text on the picture ("dig toilets not graves") shows the young boy has been through things and trauma , You can also tell by his facial expressions he doesn't look exited or happy but more upset and scared.
Denotation: In the advert it shows a diet coke but has the pepsi slogan , you can also see chicken and chips with a kind of dark background.Connotations: This suggests that coke is trying to troll them and its showing that they think coke is better. Its also showing that its more healthier then pepsi max as the coke that's in the picture is a diet coke so it can attract more audience as they will think its healthy for them
Analysis: This helps the audience think its better for them and could make them confused as it is a pepsi advert with coke in it. In addition this shows that the audience would most likely like to try the coke as it is diet and its taken over the pepsi max advert.
